{"id":57324,"date":"2020-01-05T19:40:21","date_gmt":"2020-01-05T18:40:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/schillerinstitute.com\/?p=57324\/"},"modified":"2020-01-05T20:39:33","modified_gmt":"2020-01-05T19:39:33","slug":"virginia-schiller-chorus-draws-largest-crowd-new-years-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2.schillermeet.de\/ru\/blog\/2020\/01\/05\/virginia-schiller-chorus-draws-largest-crowd-new-years-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Virginia Schiller Chorus Draws Its Largest Crowd New Year&#8217;s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">On Wednesday, January 1, 2020, the Virginia Schiller Institute Community Chorus and friends, hosted their largest ever New Year&#8217;s Concert featuring timeless choral pieces from Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, Verdi, and Dvorak.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Our concerts\u00a0are becoming a growing institution in the area, not just for audience members, but for local musicians who like performing with us. A talented violinist, who is a regular on the \u201cclassical music scene\u201d in DC\/Northern Virginia, remarked that he always appreciates the openness of our audiences, seeing \u201cnormal\u201d people genuinely\u00a0appreciating\u00a0the beauty of the pieces, as opposed to the \u201cprofessional audiences\u201d he so often performs for,\u00a0who are more concerned with \u201cbeing seen\u201d at such events, than letting the music move them.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Va Pensiero, VA Schiller Institute Community Chorus\" width=\"860\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JnkPeffq6Ek?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The audience was full and diverse. Adagio \u2013 Allegro vivace e disinvolta<br \/>\n<strong>Kreisler,<\/strong>\u00a0Praeludium and Allegro (1905)<br \/>\n<strong>Mozart<\/strong>, Laudate Pueri, from Solemn Vespers<br \/>\n<strong>Verdi,<\/strong> Va Pensiero, from Nabucco<br \/>\n<strong>Dvorak\/Fisher<\/strong>, Goin\u2019 Home<br \/>\n<strong>Hall Johnson<\/strong>, Lord, I Don\u2019t Feel No Ways Tired<br \/>\n<strong>Handel<\/strong>, Worth is the Lamb, Amen, from The Messiah<br \/>\n<strong>Joy to the World,\u00a0<\/strong>Everyone sing!<\/p>\n<p>The fact that these were seemingly &#8220;ordinary&#8221; people from the community performing these masterful pieces in a local church was not lost on the audience. In fact, it seemed to enrich the event for people, many who then asked themselves, &#8220;well, maybe I could sing?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The other remarkable part of the this and other concerts the Schiller Institute hosts, was articulated best by our director, Mike Billington in remarks he made\u00a0on a LaRouchePAC Fireside Chat broadcast,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cIt was a concert of Beethoven, Brahms, and other great Classical choruses, with some wonderful professionals, who volunteer their time to come and play with us, because they love to work with us because of our commitment to the idea of the aesthetic education of the population.
