China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi gave a press<\/span><\/span><\/span> conference on March 9, in which he presented China’s plans for<\/span><\/span><\/span> the upcoming second Belt and Road Forum for International<\/span><\/span><\/span> Cooperation, or BRF. He said that it was China’s most important<\/span><\/span><\/span> diplomatic activity of the year, and that President Xi Jinping<\/span><\/span><\/span> will deliver the keynote address.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to Xinhua, Wang said the event,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“will have more<\/span><\/span><\/span> foreign heads of state and government than the previous forum<\/span><\/span><\/span> [two years ago] and thousands of delegates from over a hundred<\/span><\/span><\/span> countries are expected to attend. It will include a series of<\/span><\/span><\/span> events, such as leaders’ round table, high-level meeting,<\/span><\/span><\/span> thematic forum, CEO conference, under the theme of Belt and Road<\/span><\/span><\/span> cooperation shaping a brighter shared future.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Wang also stated that, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“China will build consensus with<\/span><\/span><\/span> parties on high-quality cooperation following the principle of<\/span><\/span><\/span> consultation, cooperation and shared benefits; champion an open,<\/span><\/span><\/span> transparent and inclusive approach to Belt and Road cooperation,<\/span><\/span><\/span> and strive for green and sustainable development. Meanwhile,<\/span><\/span><\/span> China and the participating countries will seek a greater<\/span><\/span><\/span> complementarity between the BRI and their development<\/span><\/span><\/span> strategies.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He concluded: “We have reasons to hope and believe the<\/span><\/span><\/span> second BRF will be a greater success,” than the first one.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
