As the United States careens ever closer to general war against Iran, including the possible deployment of \u201cboots on the ground\u201d in the next hours and days; and as the world faces the growing probability that that conflict will then escalate into broader nuclear warfare; an extraordinary public dialogue to present an alternative to such a war was held on March 13 among a group of prominent government, religious and political leaders from Iran, the United States, Germany and Global South nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That hour-long dialogue can be viewed and read in the attached video<\/a> and print documents<\/a>. It constitutes a watershed in the presentation of alternatives to stop the head-long plunge into war. Speaking via Zoom and YouTube to a live audience of some 600 participants from 35 nations gathered for the 145th<\/sup> consecutive weekly meeting of the International Peace Coalition (IPC), the panelists included H.E. Abolfazl Pasandideh,<\/strong> the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mexico; Father Harry Bury<\/strong>, a renowned Catholic priest for 70 years, and lifelong peace activist and member of the U.S. Catholic Priest Association; Jack Gilroy<\/strong>, of Veterans for Peace and Pax Christi International; H.E. Donald Ramotar<\/strong>, former President of Guyana (2011-2015); and Helga Zepp-LaRouche<\/strong>, the founder of the Schiller Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Their dialogue constitutes a call to all nations represented in the United Nations and all organizations devoted to the preservation of peace, to immediately put on the agenda the need for a new international security and development architecture to replace the deadly system of geopolitics \u2014 or we shall face the likelihood of our self-destruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
