style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #222222;\">ZEPP-LAROUCHE:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It is in one sense quite amusing to see<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">what high waves the possibility of Italy signing the MOU with<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">China is causing right now.\u00a0 Because, when Xi Jinping announced<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">the New Silk Road in 2013 and then proceeded to make treaties in<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">the meantime, I think it&#8217;s with 112 countries, an enormous growth<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">developed, six major industrial corridors, the Belt and Road<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Initiative became very quickly the largest infrastructure project<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">in history, ever.\u00a0 And the strange thing was that for about four<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">years, in the mainstream media in the United States and Europe,<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">there was practically no reporting about this.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">And then, all of a sudden, in an obviously coordinated way,<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">the major think tanks of Europe and the United States started a<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">series of attacks, studies, that China is causing countries to<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">fall into a debt trap, that it&#8217;s just an effort to replace the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">United States as the dominant force in the world, to become<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Chinese imperialists, that the Belt and Road projects are not<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">viable, that China is an authoritarian system and Xi Jinping is a<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">dictator.\u00a0 So all of a sudden, you had a barrage of attacks on<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">this concept.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The funny thing is, if you would ask and listen to the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">leaders of the countries cooperating with the Belt and Road, like<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">the Africans, the Asian countries, the Latin American countries,<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">they would be full of praise and say that with the Chinese<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">cooperation, they have for the first time, the opportunity to<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">overcome the underdevelopment and poverty they had suffered as a<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">result of Western colonialism, and 70 years of IMF<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">conditionalities, which prevented them from having exactly that<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">kind of development.\u00a0 And they were full of praise, calling China<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">a friend \u2014 so you get a completely opposite view.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">I have come to the conclusion that everything in the Western<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">mainstream media are saying about China is fake news, and just a<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">lie.\u00a0 And it comes from the fact that many people in the West<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">simply have lost the ability to imagine that any country, let<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">alone China, could promote something which is, indeed, for the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">common good of all of humanity. When Xi Jinping talks about the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8222;shared community of the common future of mankind,&#8220; or the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8222;community of destiny,&#8220; he means it!\u00a0 And isn&#8217;t it obvious that<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">in the time of thermonuclear weapons, in international space<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">travel, of conquering all the problems of the world, that we have<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">to think about the one humanity first, before we talk about<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">national interests? As a matter of fact, the concept of a win-win<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">cooperation for the Belt and Road Initiative, it has all the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">economic aspects which are beneficial to all the countries that<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">have participated.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">But it is much more than that:\u00a0 Because from the standpoint<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">of the evolution of mankind, if you take a step back, and don&#8217;t<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">take a look at the conflict between Marseille and Trieste, which<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">I understand is obviously very important for the Italians, but if<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">you look at the larger point of view, isn&#8217;t it natural that<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">infrastructure development would eventually open up all<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">continents and connect them?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">So now, all of a sudden, you have this eruption of<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">anti-China propaganda, but it comes from the fact that we are now<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">at a\u00a0 point where something is happening, which has already<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">happened 16 times in history, namely, that the up-to-now dominant<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">power is being surpassed by the up-to-now second largest power.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">And in history this has led 12 times to war, between those two<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">competing power, and 4 times it was just that the second power<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">surpassed the dominant power without war.\u00a0 China has emphasized<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">many times, they don&#8217;t want, obviously, to follow the 12 examples<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">where this conflict would lead to war, but they also don&#8217;t want<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">to simply replace the United States in the role of the leader of<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">an unipolar world, but that they want to build a completely new<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">system of international relations based on sovereignty, on<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">respect for the different social system, on non-interference, and<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">actually proposing a completely new system of international<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">relations.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">of the cancellation of the ABM Treaty, then the Russian reaction<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">to that, and now the cancellation of the INF Treaty \u2014 so there<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">are many who think that we are actually close, in worse strategic<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">crisis than during the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis,<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">because of the relations between the United States and Russia.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">But if you talk to some strategic insiders on both sides of the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Atlantic, they easily admit that the much more dangerous conflict<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">is actually the one between the United States and China:\u00a0 Will<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">the United States accept the rise of Asia, and the Belt and Road<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Initiative is just the obvious expression of that?\u00a0 Or, is what<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">was said by the RAND Corporation a couple of months ago, that<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">it&#8217;s better to have the war with China now, than in 10 years,<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">because the casualties will be less?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Well, obviously, this is something we have to change, and I<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">think that the best way to change it is, indeed, to bring in style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">think the potential to overcome this conflict is absolutely<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">there.\u00a0 I know in Europe, many people are fainting when you<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">mention the name of President Donald Trump, but President Trump<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">is not seeking confrontation with Russia \u2014 as a matter of fact,<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">he wants to have an improved relation with Russia, which he<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">proved in the summit with Putin in Helsinki.\u00a0 And despite the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">present trade tension, President Trump always talks about<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">President Xi Jinping as his very good friend, and China being a<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">great country and that he wants to actually have a good<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">relationship between the United States and China.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">So the attacks on Italy, coming from the White House \u2014 the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">[i]Financial Times[\/i] mentioned this Garrett Marquis \u2014 is not<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">representing the same view as Trump.\u00a0 It comes from a faction #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">everybody knows Europe is divided already, without China:\u00a0 You<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">have the North-South conflict because of the EU austerity policy,<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">which impoverished, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, gave no<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">development to the East European countries, so they are now happy<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">to cooperate with the Belt and Road initiative, because the EU<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">did not provide these things.\u00a0 Now, the second area of division<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">a role model, because the kind of cooperation between Italian<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">firms and Chinese firms in the development of Africa is actually<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">the only human way to address the refugee question.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">So you have right now 13 countries which have already signed<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">the MOU with China; you have, now with Italy, the first G7<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries around the world.\u00a0 So<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">there is a completely changed attitude developing very quickly.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Now, also even style=\"font-size: medium;\">recognizing their self-interest to cooperate with the Belt and<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Road Initiative.\u00a0 You have three states in Germany \u2014<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Schleswig-Holstein, Bavaria, and Brandenburg \u2014 which all the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">time have huge delegations back and forth; you have many cities<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">whose mayors are complete fans of cooperation with China, and it<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">is an increasing dynamic, which is growing more rapidly than you<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">would style=\"font-size: medium;\">Road Initiative, the Eurasian Economic Union [EAEU], and European<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">countries, to cooperate fully in this new paradigm is absolutely<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Initiative, including Germany and France, that would be the best<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">way to get the United States to also give up their opposition \u2014<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">which I said, is not Trump himself, but medium;\">is of the greatest historical importance, because Italy, with<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">what you are doing, with the MOU but also with the joint ventures<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">with China in Africa, can become the role model for all the other<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">European countries.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">But the New Silk Road is not just an economic concept.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Obviously, infrastructure, investment, all of this is extremely<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">important, as the backbone, but it has a much more, and not so<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">well-known cultural\/moral dimension, which I think is best<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">expressed in the fact that the Chinese thinking is actually based<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">on the Confucian theory, namely, that you absolutely must have<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">harmony among all the nations, developing all in a harmonious<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">way.\u00a0 And when some think tanks say that there is now a<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">competition of systems between the Western liberal model and the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">state-guided model of the Chinese state economy, well, what they<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">really mean is, China has developed its whole policy based on a<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Confucian orientation, which means that the state is also in<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">charge of the moral improvement of its population through the<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">aesthetical education.\u00a0 As a matter of fact, Xi Jinping has said<\/span><\/span><\/span>
