What started out as the 250th birth-year of one of the greatest composers mankind ever produced, quickly presented as a turning point for all of civilization, with multiple crisis hitting all at once demanding soul searching and bold changes. We look to historic leaders such as Schiller and Beethoven for guidance on how to shape the path to a culture worthy of mankind, and will therefore continue the Beethoven celebration into 2021 and beyond.  Schiller Institute founder Helga LaRouche recently said, quoting Beethoven’s favorite poet Friedrich Schiller

“it is only through aesthetic education, through great classical art that the ennoblement of mankind can occur. It is time that mankind grew into a new paradigm, where the poets and the artists become the natural leaders of the age”

Through 2020 the Schiller Chorus in Quincy, MA continued rehearsals on spirituals and Beethoven’s mass in C and were able to a “virtual chorus” to the Beethoven celebration concert December 17th; Hear my prayer by Moses Hogan put together with our chorus friends in Germany, the Jena Jubilee Singers. Here is the video.

During 2020 many chorus members also joined the New York Schiller Chorus in joint work on Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, and we have connected with friends of the Schiller Chorus in various places in the US and even Ibero America.

You are encouraged to join the chorus, and partake in rehearsals and events, currently all online, with our friends in the greater Schiller Choral movement! Watch the promo video here.

Rehearsals take place at Christ Church, 12 Quincy Ave. in Quincy, MA, at 7PM on Fridays.

ABOUT THE SCHILLER BOSTON COMMUNITY CHORUS:

The Schiller Institute Chorus of Eastern MA is determined to have fun preserving a tradition of beauty and profundity, and be a shining light through a cultural darkness of our nation, where ugliness and mediocrity is promoted and even celebrated. As humanity is now at the cusp of profound change, let this light be the spark for a new renaissance of art and science and a true American humanist culture!

Join the chorus!

The chorus meets every Friday night for the Fall 2022 season and is open to anyone, regardless of background or experience. We rehearse at the natural Verdi tuning of C=256 Hz. and work on mastering the Bel Canto technique of ‘effortless singing’
